Privacy Policy

Short version: Imagine It For Me is designed to keep your reading private. There is no account to create, and your library lives on your device. The only text that ever leaves your device is the specific book passages you choose to capture, which are sent — without any identifying information about you — to the AI services that turn them into character and place visualizations.

Who we are

Imagine It For Me (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is an iOS application that turns descriptions in the books you read into AI-generated visualizations of characters and places. Questions? Email shalabhdesigns@gmail.com.

Information we do not collect

We do not require an account, name, email, or password to use the app.
We do not store the raw text or photographs of the pages you scan. Photos are processed on your device and discarded; only structured details (e.g. a character’s hair color or a place’s setting) are kept, on your device.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
We do not operate our own analytics or tracking SDKs that identify you.

Information processed to make the app work

On-device text recognition (OCR). When you photograph a book passage, text is extracted on your device using Apple’s Vision framework. The image itself is never uploaded.
Passage text sent for AI extraction. The extracted passage text is sent over an encrypted connection to our processing proxy, which forwards it to Anthropic (Claude) to identify character and setting attributes. Requests carry no name, email, device identifier, or account — only the passage text.
Image & video generation. The structured attributes (not the original book text) are sent to Replicate to generate visualizations. Generated images may be cached on your device.
Book search. When you search for a book title, that query is sent to the Google Books API to return matching titles and cover art.
Abuse prevention. Our proxy temporarily records a coarse, per-request rate-limit counter keyed to a network address to prevent abuse. It is not used to build a profile of you and expires automatically.

Where your data lives

Your books, characters, places, notes, and generated visualizations are stored locally on your device (and, for the share extension, in a private app group container). They are not stored on our servers. If you use iCloud device backup, your on-device data may be included in that backup under Apple’s terms.

Third-party services

To provide its features the app relies on the following processors, each under its own privacy policy: Anthropic (AI text extraction), Replicate (image/video generation), Google Books (title search), Cloudflare (the secure proxy that relays the above), and Apple (App Store, in-app subscriptions, on-device OCR). We share only the minimum data described above with each.

Subscriptions

Optional Pro subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Purchase validation happens through Apple’s StoreKit.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your choices

You can delete any book, character, or place at any time inside the app.
Settings › Delete All Data permanently removes everything the app has stored on your device.
You can revoke Camera and Photo Library access at any time in iOS Settings.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, note it in the app.
